I have decided to be the Robin hood of lunch ladies. There are many high school kids who cannot afford their lunches. Perhaps their parents do not fill out the proper paperwork which takes too long to process and meanwhile kids go hungry. Against my boss's instructions I feed these kids. I do not feel a kid should have to pay for their own meals in high school. Now if they want to buy ten candy bars, that's a whole 'nother story.
The vast amounts of food waste are sickening in my district. Nope, can't donate it to a food bank due to liability issues. So why not feed the kids? These kids are happy to see me outside of school. They go out of their way to say hello AND they are teenagers! So what's an extra chicken nugget or two?
